Welcome to the Cognitive Development Lab
Our research focuses on how children think about information, and how this impacts their overall learning and development.
For example, how do the limited cognitive abilities of infants lead to the remarkable behaviors of older children and adults? How does grouping simple pieces of information in young infants eventually produce abstract concepts later in development? How do people develop the ability to strategically focus on some aspects of information, while ignoring others? Finally, what is the relationship between attention, memory, and language?
In an attempt to answer these questions we study infants, children, and adults. Our research uses a broad range of simple game-like tasks to understand simple discrimination, reasoning, and problem solving.
